This is a great article about the shift in e-learning towards more m-learning, and how e-learning is becoming more learner-centric. Great to see more movement over time in this direction!

What do you think? Is m-learning here to stay? Do you agree with the shift of focus? Include your comments below.

5 Signs you highly need a content curation diet in your marketing mix | Scoop.it Blog

Like eating well relies on mixing diverse foods, marketers say you won’t achieve optimal results if you’re not adding 3rd party info via content curation.

Especially during the times that I don’t have something original to blog about (which has been lately), content curation has been a huge help to keep ideas flowing on my blog. I’m always sharing what I think is helpful or thought-provoking to me, so hopefully it is for you, too. As the article states, sometimes it’s good to change things up, and throw in some new ideas so things don’t sound like one long advertisement for your company and its products. I don’t have a company, but I’d like to think that bringing you a variety of ideas about technical communications and other STEM related topics contributes to the well-being of my "TechCommGeekMom" brand.

Anyone who’s into content marketing should take a look at this. It’s basic information, but it makes a lot of sense.

Social Media – It’s Relationship, Stupid! | LinkedIn

Source: www.linkedin.com

I like this article by Robert Caruso (@fondalo on Twitter) that he posted on LinkedIn. I agree that in the end, the true purpose of social media is about the relationships and connections we make with each other. This is the perspective I’ve always had in writing my blog, but also participating in social media. Initially, it was to make contacts in tech comm as a newbie in the field. Now, it’s to make contacts AND maintain contacts in tech comm, both professionally and personally. Creating friendships as well as networking contacts has been the best part of participating in social media, and I would never stop doing that!

What do you think? Does Robert make a good point? Or is social media merely a marketing tool for either commercial or personal promotion?

How Power Blogs Innovate: The Path of Resistance

The culture you live in has flaws that you can change. Blogging is an important tool of cultural innovation because it gives you a voice in your community. Powerful innovation requires vision,…

Today seems to be the day to blog about blogging and social media! Darin Hammond posted this great article about being a resistance blogger. Based on much of what he outlines here, I do try to create TechCommGeekMom as a "power blog". I’m sure I have days that I hit that mark, and days that I miss the mark. But I do try to explain what i see and my genuine reaction to things as a human being. I never stop thinking that there’s so much more for me to learn, and that it will take forever for me to catch up with those who have been more deeply involved in technical communications for a longer period of time than I have been. I know there are plenty of tech comm experts who are the nicest people to talk to, yet they induce sheer terror in me by the intimidating amount of knowledge they have over me, mostly from experience alone. All I can do is learn, and I’m sure there are others like me who feel the same way, so we can commiserate together.

Read Darin’s article. At the end, he provides a link to a group on Google+ called the Resistance Bloggers, of which I’m a member. It’s a good group of people sharing a variety of ideas. Be sure to check it out if you think you fit the bill of being a "power blogger" after reading this article.
