This information came my way courtesy of @ronkowitz (Ken Ronkowitz) on Twitter. As you know, I’m a big proponent of technology for the classroom, and yet so many schools in the US are not up to speed just with the technology used in the classroom. Additionally, access is limited to this technology for many schools, as there could be one computer for a large group of students. Not very productive! This bill will help remedy that problem. Let’s hope it goes through!

Classic humor from Lisa on being a technical writing newbie and respect that’s too hard to find. Truths from the turn of the century that still ring true.
While I can definitely relate to this, both as a newbie and as someone who’s been out in the world for a while, the scary thing is that while this is done in a humorous tone, every last bit of it is sadly true. And even when you are older and have been around the block a few times like I have, you will still be the newbie each time you enter a new job or contract. I think my current job is the first time they actually listen to my suggestions and what I have to say to some degree. It’s just a sad truth here.

Social media remains the most powerful source of communication in the world – but there is a social media danger when it’s used for oppression.
This is a great article that was brought to my attention on LinkedIn through @GuyKawasaki. A good portion of the information in this article was the kind of thing we talked about in my graduate school social media class, taught by Dr. Andrew Klobucar. Amongst the topics we spoke of was the role of social media in information dissemination, and the role of "netizens". Good stuff! It makes you think about the role of social media beyond tweeting or Facebooking photos of your dinner on vacation. A very good read–it helps to put the real role of social media in perspective.
