Structured content is a lot like a new closet. No amount of organization will work until you put everything in its rightful place.

This is a fantastic article that my new friend, Val Swisher, wrote about understanding structured content management. She is a marvelous speaker that I saw at Adobe Day at Lavacon, and spent some time with her afterwards. She’s a creative and smart person, and knows a lot about this subject!  I love her analogy with the closet in this article! I definitely encourage you to read this article, because it’s a great breakdown of how the whole concept works.

  2. Thanks for you kind words ! So glad you liked the article and analogy, Danielle (and Marcia). For a while there, I was really getting carried away by it. But it seems to fit so well. Now, Marcia has inspired me to go all-out and create a kitchen taxonomy. I might be up all night!

    1. I love analogies like this, and try to write these kinds of analogies myself when I can, and that’s why I especially appreciated yours, Val. I think when complex concepts can be compared to something that’s more everyday, then more people have a better understanding of how that particular concept works. This analogy worked VERY well, so I couldn’t let it go unnoticed!
