Why Microsoft HoloLens could succeed where Glass failed

The device gives apps a lot more control.

Source: www.businessinsider.com

Thanks to Adam Helweh for finding this article. My first impression, when I initially heard about HoloLens, was that it was definitely different from Google Glass. It seemed like this would be a game-changer as compared to Glass, and it seemed to have more realistic expectations on how it would be used.

In reading this article, it sounds like my hunches are turning out to be correct. It’s good to hear that developers are seeing good things and are more excited and anxious to work on HoloLens.

Read the article, and tell me what you think in the comments below. Will HoloLens be a game changer?

The Content Strategy of Marvel

David Dylan Thomas has done it again! And I think he’s trying to appeal to my geeky side. (Although truth be told, while I definitely enjoy Marvel Comics, I tend to be more of a DC Comics kind of gal…) I’m thinking, after watching this, that my beloved DC Comics is trying to take a page out of Marvel’s playbook content strategy with some of the things they are planning in the movies and in television.

Watch David in this video–geeky genius!

Why do ambitious women have flat heads?

Dame Stephanie Shirley is the most successful tech entrepreneur you never heard of. In the 1960s, she founded a pioneering all-woman software company in the UK, which was ultimately valued at $3 billion, making millionaires of 70 of her team members. In this frank and often hilarious talk, she explains why she went by “Steve,” how she upended the expectations of the time, and shares some sure-fire ways to identify ambitious women …

Thanks to Yvonne Wade Sanchez for posting this on the Women in TechComm group on Facebook.

Dame "Steve" is my new heroine. From one autism mom to another, thank you for doing all that you do to break down walls as an advocate for women in IT as well as an advocate for autism needs. You show us how it really should’ve been done all along, and you did it well before anyone else.

Take the 13:39 minutes to watch this. Fantastic story and person.
