Darin Hammond has done it again, bringing up a detail that seems small, but actually makes a big impact. I agree wholeheartedly with his approach on this subject. (And, no, Darin, you are not an ugly, old man!) But connecting a face with the words and images on a blog post does make a difference, and definitely personalizes the experience. I’m not just a name, but a face that goes with it. People have recognized me at conferences because they’ve seen my face. I remember faces again when I see photos of people on social media. No "Glamour Shots" are needed–both of the photos I’ve used in the last two years have been amateur shots.
